Compassion in the Community | May 2024

May is here, and a new month means new exciting ways to support the Virginia Beach SPCA. From a day at the park to cozy story time, here’s a peek at what we have going on in May.

Poochella – Bea Arthur Dog Park – May 4th
Join us at Bea Arthur Dog Park in Norfolk on Saturday, May 4th for Poochella – PETA’s multi-shelter adoption event! We’ll be there with adoptable dogs between 11:00am and 2:00pm. Come out and meet your next best friend.

Little Learners – TCC/Joint Use Library – May 17th
Join the VBSPCA for its newest humane education offering, Little Learners. Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to join us at the TCC/Joint Use Library on Friday, May 17th from 10:00am to 10:45am to learn about kindness, compassion, and empathy through stories and activities. Participants will also meet a small animal. A donation of $5 is suggested to attend with all proceeds going back to our shelter. Click here to learn more and sign up.

Kids Night In – May 17th
Young animal lovers are invited to Kids Night In, a fun-filled and educational evening at the VBSPCA Shelter, on Friday, May 17th from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Each registration includes dinner and features activities such as meeting adoptable animals, making crafts, and playing games. This event is open to children ages 6-11 years old. Pet Portrait Fundraiser – May 18th
Get beautiful photos of your pet and help the animals of the VBSPCA at the same time at our Pet Portrait Fundraiser! Windhound Photography will doing 10-minute photo sessions at Salty Paws Chics Beach on Saturday, May 18th from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Sessions will cost $35, and all proceeds will be donated to the VBSPCA. Book your slot here.

You can help homeless animals anytime you buy groceries at Kroger! Simply sign up, swipe your Plus Card when you shop, and a portion of the sale will be donated back to the VBSPCA! Sign up to participate here.

Realtor Jennifer Brickhouse of the Real Estate Group is turning housewarmings into homecomings. She is sponsoring the adoption fee of one adoptable animal at the VBSPCA for each house sold. Click here to learn more.
