2026 World Spay Day
VBSPCA Completes 124 Surgeries for World Spay Day in Virginia Beach
The Virginia Beach SPCA (VBSPCA) marked the 2026 World Spay Day with a full day of high-impact veterinary care — completing 124 spay and neuter surgeries for pets across Hampton Roads.
For 14 hours, in rotating shifts, our veterinary team worked tirelessly to expand access to affordable spay and neuter services in Virginia Beach.
World Spay Day by the Numbers:
Spaying and neutering pets is one of the most effective ways to reduce unwanted litters and prevent overcrowding in animal shelters. It is also an important part of preventive veterinary care.
Why Spay and Neuter Matters
Spaying and neutering provides significant health and behavioral benefits for pets:
By increasing access to low-cost spay and neuter services in Virginia Beach, VBSPCA helps families keep their pets healthy while reducing the number of animals entering local shelters.
Access to Affordable Spay and Neuter in Hampton Roads
While World Spay Day shines a spotlight on the importance of these services, VBSPCA’s clinic provides affordable spay and neuter surgery year-round for dogs and cats throughout Hampton Roads.
This work directly supports community pet retention, improves animal health outcomes, and helps reduce shelter intake over time.
We are grateful to our veterinary team, clinic staff, and community supporters who made this extended day of care possible. Their commitment ensures pets in Virginia Beach have access to safe, affordable, high-quality veterinary services.
