June Compassion in The Community
While our June activities may not be how we had originally planned them, we are so grateful to see our community continue to be supportive of our mission. From fun running challenges to our Neuter Scooter now back to normal operations, there are so many great reasons to be excited for the future! Check out the full list of activities below.
Dog Days of Summer J & A Racing
We’re very excited to be partnering with j&a racing for this brand new virtual race series. There are 5k races in June, July, and August, and there is also a Mutt Mile just for kids! The animals receive $1 from every registration, click here to sign up today.
After taking a break due to COVID-19, the VBSPCA Neuter Scooter is back out on the town and you can find a list of upcoming dates and services by clicking here. If you are interested in hosting the Neuter Scooter at your business, please contact us at email@example.com.
Junior Picasso Pet Portrait Challenge
During the month of June, we challenge all young artists to tap into their compassionate side and help out the animals of the VBSPCA. Artists are invited to draw a picture of one of our longest residents, you can find their pictures here. Pick your favorite (or both), draw their portrait, and have your parents share it on social media using the hashtag #VBSPCAKidsPetArt.
Quotes For Good Fundraiser
For every quote or referral during the month of July, Cooksey Insurance Agency will be donating $5 to the VBSPCA! They will also be donating $1 for every share of their fundraising post on Facebook. We are so grateful for their support of the animals.
VBSPCA Wags and Whiskers Virtual Silent Auction
Although our annual in-person gala has been cancelled, you can still support the animals through our silent auction. We have some amazing packages, which include travel experiences, celebrity meet and greets, custom art, restaurant gift certificates, and more. The auction goes up on June 19th and closes on June 17th. Click here for more information.
Pet Fire Safety Day
When coming up with a home emergency plan, including your pets is an important part of the planning process. July 1st is Pet Fire Safety Day and we are providing free stickers to place in the windows of your home in case of emergency to notify firefighters that your furry friends are inside. Stop by the shelter from June 28th – July 4th to pick one up while supplies last.
Thank You to Second Chance For Years of Support
COVID-19 has taken a toll on so many businesses, including our friends at Second Chance Thrift. We are sad to say that they will not be reopening their doors and our partnership has come to an end. We are deeply grateful for their many years of support and over $300k in financial contributions. It was a business built on compassion and we could use more of those in the world. Thank you to Second Chance Thrift founders Bob Lee and Mitchell Fine for their many years of generosity and for being champions of the VBSPCA mission.
