What does my dog need for class?
- 4-6 foot leash (No retractable leashes please)
- Flat buckle collar
- Your dog’s favorite treats
- Small towel, blanket, or dog bed
What should I wear to class?
Please wear comfortable, closed toe shoes that allow for movement and physical activity.
Can I bring my entire family to class?
Due to the size of the training space, we cannot safely accommodate more than two people per dog. If you have a larger family you are welcome to switch out who comes. We also ask that any children who attend the training are over 12 years of age.
How often should we practice?
We recommend at least 15 minutes in the morning, and 15 minutes in the evening. This mental stimulation will also help tire your dog out mentally and physically.
How old does my dog need to be to come to class?
Ideally puppies should be at least 16 weeks old, have their rabies vaccine, and are spayed or neutered.
What is your training philosophy?
We focus on positive, reward based training. The idea is to work with your dog in a way that positively reinforces everyday commands and helps them develop into natural behaviors.
What class is right for my dog?
The age guideline for dogs is a rough estimate. For the basic class, the expectation is that your dog may know simple commands such as sit or down, but may not perform them reliably. For the advanced class the expectation is that your dog can sit, lay, or stay when asked at least 75% of the time.
Will my dog get to play with other dogs?
Yes and no. The majority of classes are focused on achieving training milestones while in the presence of other dogs and people. However, we try to at least make small play groups every other class so we can reinforce good socialization habits.
