For many of us, having a pet isn’t an option. Whether we have allergies or apartment complex restrictions or we travel frequently, sometimes life doesn’t allow us to give homeless animals a forever home. The good news is that there are other ways to support homeless animals, one of which is shopping at Second Chance Thrift on Shore Drive.

Second Chance Thrift has been helping homeless animals since 2010, with a portion of their proceeds directly supporting the animals of the Virginia Beach SPCA. Since opening their doors in 2010, Second Chance Thrift has blossomed into a robust retail space, with high quality items offered at low prices. They have been voted Best of Hampton Roads for the past 7 years, they won Gold in Best of 2017 Pilot’s Readers’ Choice Awards, and they were recently acknowledged as the Best Thrift Store in the state of Virginia by Insider Magazine.

If you haven’t visited Second Chance yet, the perfect opportunity is right around the corner.

On Saturday, July 7th, the Virginia Beach SPCA and Second Chance Thrift are partnering up for Christmas in July, a one day event featuring great sales, adoptable animals, Christmas items, live music, and a visit from Santa himself. The Neuter Scooter will also be on site, providing walk-up vaccine services from 11:00am to noon.  For more details on the event, click here.

If you can’t make it to Christmas in July, you can still support the animals by shopping at Second Chance Thrift throughout the year. They are open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 7pm and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. You can also support the VBSPCA by donating to Second Chance Thrift. All donations are tax deductable, and Second Chance Thrift even offers a pickup service.
