Compassion in the Community | February 2019

Has the cold weather given you cabin fever? Warm your heart by supporting the Virginia Beach SPCA’s mission of compassion! Come have some fun at our Puppy Bowl Tail-Gate party, learn your dog’s love language, or meet some adoptable dogs while out in the community. We look forward to seeing you!

Sunday, February 3rd – Puppy Bowl Tail-Gate Party
Are you Team Ruff or Team Fluff? Join the VBSPCA for beers, games, and prizes at Smartmouth Pilot House and cheer on the VBSPCA’s puppy superstars, Ace and Scooter, along with the rest of the 93 adoptable puppies from 51 shelters and rescues across the country go paw to paw and nose to nose for the ultimate match up: Team Ruff vs Team Fluff. This is a free event. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds help shelter animals at the VBSPCA. You can also play our Puppy Bowl Squares game (back by popular demand!) for a minimum donation of $5. For more information, visit our website or check out this event on Facebook.

Sunday, February 10th – For the Love of Pets
This Valentine’s themed workshop takes place at the Virginia Beach SPCA’s Holland Road location and is purr-fect for kids who love pets! We’ll make crafts, play games, cuddle with the animals, and deliver our handmade Valentines to our shelter residents. This workshop is for children ages 6 – 12 and tickets are only $20! All proceeds go back to helping shelter animals at the VBSPCA. Register today!.

February 10th-16th – Homeless Animals Awareness Week
Stop by one of our locations to get your orange ribbon for Homeless Animals Awareness Week. Help us spread the word on why it’s so important to adopt and not shop!

Saturday, February 16th – PetValu National Adoption Weekend
Stop by Pet Valu on 737 First Colonial Road and meet some adorable adoptable dogs! The Virginia Beach SPCA will be there with a few special canine companions from 12pm to 3pm. See you there!

Sunday, February 17th – Learn Love Language at VBSPCA’s Pet Academy
Being successful with dogs is actually quite simple: communicate in THEIR language rather than yours. This workshop is designed to help you better communicate with your dog and improve your relationship as a team. All proceeds go back to helping shelter animals at the VBSPCA. Tuesday, February 26th – World Spay Day
February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month with World Spay Day on February 26th. The VBSPCA’s Neuter Scooter will be out in the community helping more pets get spayed and neutered. February 22nd-24th – PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend
Both the PetSmart Luv-A-Pet Centers on Virginia Beach Boulevard and on Dam Neck house adoptable VBSPCA cats and some small animals. During their adoption weekend, some of our adoptable dogs will be there as well! Strop by Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 2pm and meet your new best friend!
