Compassion in the Community | August 2023

The dog days of summer are here, but there are plenty of ways to chill out at local businesses while supporting the animals of the Virginia Beach SPCA. Here’s a look at how the community is giving back in August.

Puttin’ for Paws Charity Golf Tournament – Registration Now Open
Join the VBSPCA for the 22nd Annual Puttin’ for Paws Charity Golf Tournament! The event will be held Friday, October 6th at Red Wing Lake Golf Course. Participants will enjoy a day of golf as well as lunch, unlimited beverages, and an awards dinner. Proceeds go directly to the animals of the VBSPCA! Click here to learn more and to register.

Paws on the Patio – Old Beach Tavern – August 9th
Grab a pint of Wasserhund Brewing Company’s latest beer for a good cause. Old Beach Tavern will be pouring the new brew Wednesday, August 9th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and will donate 15% of sales to the VBSPCA. You can also learn more about the mission of the VBSPCA and meet an adoptable dog.

Doggie Dayz of Summer – Ocean View Beach Tavern – August 22nd
Be one of the first to taste Wasserhund Brewing Company’s latest beer and give back at the same time! The fun takes place August 22nd from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Ocean View Beach Tavern. The brewery will donate 10% of all sales to the animals of the VBSPCA. You can also meet a VBSPCA adoptable dog.

Dog Days of Summer Market – Smartmouth Pilot House – August 26th
Bring your pooch, enjoy a beer, and check out animal related vendors at Smartmouth Pilot House’s Dog Days of Summer Market. This event takes place Saturday, August 26th, and you can meet one of the VBSPCA’s adoptable dogs from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

Help Shelter Pets Shine – All Month Long
Throughout the month of August, we want to shine a light on the homeless animals of the VBSPCA as they wait to find loving homes. For every donation of $5 or more, we will post a sun with your name on it in our shelter to showcase how much our community cares. Stop by our shelter to make your $5 donation, which will benefit the VBSPCA Miracle Medical Fund. Thank you for helping our shelter pets shine!
