Compassion in the Community | April 2021

With the change in season, we’re sharing ways you can spring into action to help the animals of the Virginia Beach SPCA. This month we have an exciting announcement about our first in-person fundraising event in over a year! Read on to learn more about this year’s Puttin’ for Paws as well as how you can freshen up your spring look while supporting homeless animals.

Spring into Action – All Month Long
Spring into Action to help provide medical care for the homeless animals of the VBSPCA. For every $5 donation to the VBSPCA Miracle Medical Fund, you can pick an egg to receive a prize! Each egg contains either a piece of candy, a coupon for 10% off one item in our Pet Retail Store, or a voucher for a piece of VBSPCA swag. Stop by the shelter from April 1-30 to pick an egg and reveal your prize!

Free Class with Donation at Pure Barre Virginia Beach – All Month Long
Pure Barre Virginia Beach is celebrating National Pet Day all month long! In honor of the holiday, which is celebrated on April 11th, the fitness studio is collecting items from our Wish List during the month of April. All non-members who stop by the studio to drop off an item on our Wish List will receive one free class. Click here for studio hours, location, and contact information.

Puttin’ for Paws Charity Golf Tournament – Registration Opens Soon
Save the date for the 20th Annual Puttin’ for Paws Charity Golf Tournament! The event will be held Friday, June 4th at the Red Wing Lake Golf Course. Participants will enjoy a day of golf as well as lunch, unlimited beverages, and an awards dinner. We hope you will mark your calendars and join us! Click here to learn more and to register.

Fortescue Sea Glass for a Cause – Now through May 31st
A young artist has created unique pieces of jewelry made from sea glass in an effort to support the animals of the VBSPCA. Ana Ferreira takes sea glass she finds on the Eastern Shore and turns it into jewelry. The 12 year old is selling her pieces at the Chesapeake Bay Distillery now through the end of May, and 25% of all sales will be donated to our shelter. To purchase Ana’s jewelry, visit the distillery at 437 Virginia Beach Blvd., or send a message through the distillery’s Facebook page.
