Mark your calendars, because April is filled with fun opportunities for you to support the VBSPCA and our mission of compassion. Community partners will be hosting fundraisers, art events, local festivals, and adoption awareness campaigns, and you can read all about them below. April 2, April 9, & April 16: Mission Mondays at Altar'd State
Come out for Mission Mondays at Altar’d State in Lynnhaven Mall. If you shop on Mission Monday, 10% of all sales will be donated back to the VBSPCA. Read more here.
April 7th: MOCA's Open Call Art Exhibition Begins
Summon your inner artist for MOCA’s Open Call Art Exhibition. This year, the Virginia Beach Museum of Contemporary Art has partnered with the Virginia Beach SPCA for the annual open call exhibition, and the community is invited to submit pieces inspired by a theme that sits at the heart of the VBSPCA mission: Compassion. April 14th: Hoppy Place Yoga at Wasserhund Brewing Company
Join us at Hoppy Place Yoga for a Harry Potter Themed Yoga Class. (Yes, you read that right.) Come as a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor, or you could take it easy and just come as a Muggle. It’s up to you. Class is at 10 am, participants get a free beer or appetizer after class, 15% of the event proceeds will be donated to the VBSPCA. Read more here.
April 14th: Dine for a Cause at CP Shucker's
Support the VBSPCA by enjoying lunch or dinner at CP Shucker’s oceanfront location. If you stop in and eat between noon and 9 pm on April 14th, 20% of sales will be donated back to the VBSPCA! The only catch is that we need at least 20 people to commit to supporting the event in order for the event to happen. Sign up here.
April 21st: Youth Unplugged Event at the Military Aviation Museum
Our Humane Education team will be onsite at the fourth annual Youth Unplugged event at the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo. This event is organized by Saving Kids Dreams and it will be a ton of fun, so bring your kiddos and stop by to say hi! Read more here.
April 21st: KindFest at Hunt Club Farms
Join us at Kindfest, a free event at Hunt Club Farms, offering a day of positivity for the entire family. There will be food trucks, adult beverages, live music, giant games for adults, inflatables for the kids, and several local charities and nonprofits will be onsite raising awareness. April 28: Adoption Fair at Princess Anne Middle School
Princess Anne Middle School (PAMS) is hosting an adoption awareness fair. This is a great opportunity to come out and meet some of our shelter animals while also learning about the VBSPCA. The event will be held at PAMS from 11-3, and there will be vendors, raffles, and food trucks. PAMS students will also be hosting games and activities for all ages. There will be lots of fun ways for you to show your support, and you can feel good because you will be helping the students, too!
April 28: Poochella at Bea Arthur Dog Park
Come join local animal shelters at Poochella, an adopt-a-thon at PETA’s Bea Arthur Dog Park. This will be a tail-wagging good time with dozens of dogs who are in search of loving homes. Read more here.
April 28: Spring Up! at the Holiday Trav-L Park
Join us at Spring Up!, a fun event for Military families. There will be critter cuddling, food trucks, bounce houses, music & dancing, and even some sponsor giveaways. This event is free for all active duty, reserve/national guard, retirees, & eligible dependents. Participants must show valid Military ID card to enter! Read more here.
In addition to the April events, you can always support the VBSPCA by shopping at Kroger. All you have to do is sign up to participate, swipe your Plus Card when you shop, and a portion of the sale will be donated back to the VBSPCA! Sign up to participate here.
And, as always, be sure to support the VBSPCA by shopping at Second Chance Thrift on Shore Drive. Second Chance Thrift is a dedicated supporter of the VBSPCA, and a portion of all sales are donated to the shelter.
