Adult Volunteering (18 and over)
Our adult volunteers are the backbone of our organization. All of our fundraising events require the help of volunteers, sometimes hundreds of them! Adult volunteers have many choices in how they would like to help out the VBSPCA, including:
clerical, front desk help, adoption counseling, dog walking, cattery or kennel help, foster homes, PetSmart adoption centers, tour guides, Humane Education readers, pet therapy, beer pouring, photography, event planning, wildlife program; and the list goes on and on.
General Adult Volunteer Orientations are held at least monthly, and are posted on our calendar of events. You MUST RSVP for these orientations ahead of time to volunteer@vbspca.com.
If you want to volunteer with the VBSPCA to acquire volunteer hours prior to a court hearing or to meet court ordered community service requirements. Please do not attend the general adult volunteer orientation. You must attend a Community Service Orientation, which is offered twice a month and is listed on our calendar of events. You MUST RSVP for this orientation by calling 427-0070 Ext. 102 or email communityservice@vbspca.com. Please leave your name or guardian's name, telephone number, type of offense and how many hours you are looking to complete. Community service hours are scheduled by the facilitator of this program. You MUST sign up through this program to have your volunteer hours count toward community service.
Adults who are mentally or physically challenged in any way, or require a caretaker, must contact volunteer@vbspca.com or call 427-0070 Ext. 113 to set up an appointment to come in and discuss volunteer opportunities.
**NOTE** all adult volunteers must attend a general orientation and must be willing to pay the $25volunteer fee at orientation, which covers the cost of volunteer shirt and becoming a member of the VBSPCA. Additional orientations are required to work with the animals at the shelter, off-site events and PetSmart. Information and sign-ups for additional orientations are provided at the general orientation.
