Virginia Beach Spca Receives Top 10 Rating From Charity Navigator
Published on 2008/7/18
The Virginia Beach SPCA has been chosen as one of 10 "Charities to Watch" in the United States by Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator is a nation\'s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. The Virginia Beach SPCA is the only Virginia charity of the ten and joins a New York based charity focused on assisting India and eight others with various interests across the United States.
The Virginia Beach SPCA has received Charity Navigator\'s highest rating, 4 stars, for the past four years in a row. We are evaluated for organizational efficiency, capacity and a variety of other parameters. While the percentage varies from year to year, few charities (as a percentage) achieve four-star status consistently.
According to Charity Navigator, Hampton Roads is not one of the 30 Metro areas with the highest level of giving. This means we must work quite hard to develop the resources we need to serve animals and humans. We strive to provide exceptional services and give back to our community in such ways as presenting award-winning humane education to over 27,000 children, providing pet-therapy visits to the elderly in nursing homes, tending to approximately 2000 injured and orphaned wildlife, and providing low-cost veterinary care with 14,000 visits to our subsidized medical clinic each year.
The Virginia Beach SPCA is proud to be named one of the "10 Charities to Watch" nationwide and to receive our fourth consecutive 4-star rating, "exceeding industry standards and outperforming other charities in our field". The Virginia Beach SPCA wants the generous citizens of Hampton Roads, our donors, members and volunteers, to know that we manage the funds given to us in the most responsible and efficient manner possible. Only by receiving the trust, confidence and support of our citizens will we be able to maintain and grow programs that improve the community.
