School-Required Community Service Projects
The Virginia Beach SPCA welcomes students who are required by their school to complete community service hours to complete their service at our shelter. For this purpose, we schedule “School Community Service Saturdays” once per month. WE DO NOT ALLOW WALK-INS FOR VOLUNTEERING, PROJECTS, OR INTERVIEWS. PROJECT INTERVIEWS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
We will host School Community Service Weekends on the third Saturday of each month (subject to change). Students (middle or high school only, please) will be able to come to the shelter on those dates to complete their hours. Students will not be allowed to come any other day or time to complete hours. The schedule for the 2012-2013 school year is as follows:
Saturday, October 20, 2012 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, November 17, 2012 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, April 20, 2013 10 AM – 2 PM Saturday, May 18, 2013 10 AM – 2 PM Email their RSVP for the date/hours they wish to attend to educationdirector@vbspca.com at LEAST ONE WEEK in advance of the scheduled community service Saturday.
Fill out, sign, and submit a Liability Waiver BEFORE the C/S Day to 3040 Holland Road,VB 23453, by email to Education Director, or fax to 427-5939.
Send proof that the student's school is requiring the community service hours.

Students may come in at any time during the four-hour shift, depending on how many hours they will need to complete. Students wanting to come to a Community Service Day need to do the following:

Dress Code: Long pants & closed-toed shoes. Students arriving in inappropriate dress will not be able to work in the shelter. Students requiring more than 4 hours of C/S will need to purchase a VBSPCA Volunteer T-Shirt for $15.
