Corinne N. Powers is a native of Colorado Springs, CO, and has served our nation as a member of the United States Coast Guard for the past 16 years, serving first as an enlisted member for nine years and earning an officer's commission in 2011. Corinne has been stationed in Hampton Roads since 2013, and currently assigned to the USCG Fifth District in Portsmouth as a Contingency & Exercise Planner and lead project officer for the Coast Guard's participation in FEMA's National Level Exercise 2018.
In addition to her military service to the Hampton Roads community, Corinne has been an active volunteer in the region. She has been a member of the Virginia Beach SPCA Board of Directors since 2013, serving on the Development, Gala and Animal Welfare committees. She also serves on the Sea Service Leadership Association Board of Directors and as co-chair of the 2017 & 2018 Joint Women's Leadership Symposium (JWLS), the largest convening of U.S. and international armed service women in the country, and as an active member of the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach as the Corporate and Foundation Giving Chair. Corinne also volunteers her time and talents as a National Anthem & patriotic vocalist for high profile events and sports teams such as the Norfolk Tides & Norfolk Admirals, the New York Rangers, USO Annual Gala, HBO and NASCAR, as well as at various military celebrations and public recognition events. Corinne is thrilled to represent the VBSPCA leadership team and the military community in Dancing For Paws, and to have the opportunity to bring increased public awareness to the incredible work done every day at the VBSPCA through this competitive challenge and with no formal dance training in over 20 years.
When not working or volunteering, Corinne enjoys taking ukelele lessons, paddle boarding, throwing last minute dinner parties for her friends, catching up on all the shows she has missed on Hulu and hanging out with her extremely handsome husband Loren and their four rescue dogs, Ellie Mae, Roxie Lou, Holly Berry (originally from the VBSPCA) and Roxy in Chesapeake, VA.
